With the strenght of its growing experience, The coopearge is evolving from 25 years and shows today many quality points to vineyards, from our supply chain, passing by our control after production, the transportation, the follow-up and the analysis of our wood.
Unlike several cooperage, we have a strict control on the wood we're using creating our barrels. Working with French Oak wood with controlled origins, the cooperage has always worked in pair with our own stave mill. The knowledge of Jean-Louis Bossuet, as a member of the French National Forests Organisation, and his own experience of oak forests, has permitted to the cooperage to build its good reputation. To manage the entire supply chain from the forests guarantee the origin of the oak wood, its good treatment and a complete drying.
Expertise and Control
Furthermore than the expertise of our coopers, where each of them is creating his entire barrel from the beginning to the end, masterizing all steps, the workshop is today led by Christian Jean, Long time cooper in our cooperage, and has a permanent supervision of the production. Conceived with the respect of each detail, each barrel is then controlled from outside and from inside. A test to prevent eventual leaks is applied with boiled water under high pressure.
Protection and Transportation
Longer is the transportation, higher are the risks that barrels could be damaged. That's why our barrels are first well drapped with alimentary plastic, to isolate them and prevent small injuries during handling. A flower hat is also covering each head.
Barrels are shipped by containers or specialized trucks (according the destination). Working with a reliable trasporting company, each container is first inspected to be sure that all safety and hygienical conditions are met. Barrels are then loaded and set according to a precise method avoiding them to move during the transportation.
A Personal Follow-up
Each winery is unique, that's why each client of the cooperage is followed, at least once a year. The representative or distributor in contact with you will contact you and will follow your winemaking with Bossuet Products. In many cases, a degustation could be organized to take the time to control the final results and to find eventual ameliorations or changes to bring.
Traceability and Analysis
It's important to regularly control oak wood to detect any problem. Bossuet Cooperage is working with Laboratory Excell in Bordeaux. Analysis are made in 48H and are available for consultation by our clients. The laboratory analyzes the samples of wood provided by the cooperage and is automatically detecting each kind of wood bacteria that could be harmful for winemaking.
